About the Role

Our client is a local government organisation based in Camperdown VIC. They are currently seeking a Coordinator Financial Services to come in and assist them on a 12 month contract.

Candidates for this role will ideally have:

  • Previous leadership experience leading a team
  • CA/CPA qualification (Nice to have)
  • Technology One System experience
  • Previous local council or government experience

Key responsibilities include:

  • Team Leadership & Finance Coordination: Lead and coordinate the Finance and Accounts Payable teams, fostering a culture of teamwork, professional development, and high-quality customer service.
  • Financial Reporting & Statutory Compliance: Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of all financial reporting, including Annual Statements, Budgets, Long-Term Financial Plans, and statutory tax obligations (GST/FBT).
  • Business Partnering & Capital Works: Manage Council’s capital works program and partner with internal stakeholders to drive financial performance and strategic decision-making.
  • Systems Administration & Innovation: Act as the primary administrator for financial applications (e.g., Technology One), providing staff training and driving process improvements through technology.
  • Treasury & Portfolio Management: Provide high-level oversight of treasury functions, including the management of surplus cash investments, loan portfolios, and the Purchase Card module.
  • Governance, Risk & Safety: Ensure strict adherence to Council policies, legislative requirements, and OHS standards to mitigate risk and maintain an ethical, safe, and compliant workplace.

About You

You will be an experienced Coordinator for Financial Services with proven experience and reliability in previous positions:

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Tertiary qualification in Business/Commerce with an accounting major or equivalent.
  • Substantial relevant experience in an accounting position.
  • CPA/CA Status.
  • Recent National Police Check, or ability to obtain.
  • Relevant local government experience.
  • Experience in using Technology One or a similar application.
  • Victorian Driver Licence.
